The correct water temperature is important when preparing a plant dye. With this glass thermometer, you can easily check whether the water is at the temperature recommended in the instructions for your dye powder. This allows you to prepare the plant dye more accurately and consistently.
The thermometer has a measuring range of -10 to 110 °C and a precise scale marked in 1 °C increments. The red measuring fluid is clearly visible against the white background, making it easy to read the temperature. Measuring 26 cm in length, the thermometer is suitable for use in a measuring jug or other tall mixing jug.
The thermometer itself is made of glass and operates entirely without batteries, a digital display or electronic components. No plastic casing is required, making this a simple and reusable choice for preparing natural hair dyes. There is a handy loop at the top through which the thermometer can be hung.
Use the thermometer together with a glass measuring jug to first measure out the correct amount of water and then check the temperature. Then add the water to the colour powder as per the instructions.

Fill a heat-resistant measuring jug with the required amount of water.
Carefully place the bottom of the thermometer in the water. Make sure the measuring part is sufficiently submerged, but try not to let the thermometer rest firmly against the bottom or side of the measuring jug.
Wait until the red liquid column stops moving, then read the temperature at eye level.
Is the water at the temperature recommended for your plant colouring? If so, carefully remove the thermometer from the water and add the water to the colour powder in accordance with the instructions.
After use, rinse the thermometer gently with lukewarm water and dry it with a soft cloth.
The recommended water temperature varies depending on the brand, colour and formulation. You should therefore always follow the instructions for the specific plant colouring product.
Only use the thermometer to measure the temperature; do not use it to stir the coloured paste. It is better to use a separate spoon, whisk or paintbrush for this.
Avoid sudden changes in temperature. Do not place a warm thermometer directly on an ice-cold or wet surface, and do not suddenly pour boiling water over cold glass.
Before each use, check the thermometer for cracks, chips or other damage. Do not use it if the glass is damaged.
Keep the thermometer in a safe place, out of the reach of children. Its slender glass design means it is fragile.
